COUNTY AFFAIRS

MEETING OF MASTERTON COUNCIL. PROCEEDINGS OF FINANCE COMMITTEE. A meeting of the finance committee of the Masterton County Council was held today. The chairman. Mr H. H. Mawley, presided. There were also present Councillors J. W. Colquhoun J. Donald, G. Moore, R. E. Gordon Lee. W. I. Armstrong and P. R. Welch. The treasurer reported that the county fund account was in debit £2,980 19s lOd. The bridge fund account was in credit £536 7s lOd, and the bridges loan account 1938, £4,136 16s sd, of which £4.000 was on fixed deposit. Receipts since last meeting totalled £9lB Ils 3d. Subsidies due and outstanding by the Main Highways Board and Public Works Department amounted to £1,291 15s. Accounts for £6,770 Ils 6d were recommended for payment. , The New Zealand County Councils' Industrial Union of Employers reported on the result of the Conciliation Court proceedings in the local body labourers’ dispute, in Wellington on June and 6.
