COSY THEATRE
"MUMMY’S HAND.” This thriller with its settings in mysterious Egypt, will conclude its season tonight. "SWANEE RIVER.” Tomorrow the Cosy Theatre presents "Swanee River,” 20th Century-Fox’s story o'f Stephen C. Foster, the great American troubadour, filmed in technicolour. What Robert Burns was to Scotland and Thomas Moore to Ireland. Stephen Foster is to America. His songs embody the very soul of his country and spring inspirationally from its rich earth. What American is there who at some time has not hummed, sung or whistled "The Old Folks at Home” (Swanee River), "Old Black Joe.” "My Old Kentucky Home,” "De Camptown Races,” “Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair,” "Oh! Susanna!” or "Ring, Ring de Banjo?” "Swanee River” is said to be a magnificent picture because it combines the immortal melodies of Foster with the romantic drama of his life ; Darryl F. Zanuck, in charge cf production for 20th Cen-tury-Fox, selected Don Ameche to portray the great American troubadour, with Andrea Leeds as his sweetheart and wife, Jane McDowell, for whom Foster wrote "Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair.” Action, adventure, comedy, romance —and all the thrills of the old West are plentifully provided in "Viva Cisco Kid,” the 20th Century-Fox picture, the associate feature, with Cesar Romero again superbly playing the dashing Cisco, whom he first portrayed in ’The Cisco Kid and the Lady."
