MEN’S DIVISION SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. - WESLEY v. GREYTOWN. Wesley and Greytown met at Lansdowne on Saturday, and although the ground was in good condition considering the overnight rain the play was not of a very high standard in the first spell but improved considerably in the second half. From the commencement Wesley attacked. Stevenson took the ball down the line and went into the circle, but his shot missed through glancing ’off a Greytown back. From the corner hit Greytown cleared, but Wesley were soon back on the attack. They missed several good chances by bad shooting and Greytown's sound defence helped to keep the score down. Towards the middle of the spell Greytown attacked and scored. Later Wesley attacked and from a scramble A. Harrington evened the score. On resuming Wesley attacked and a shot by Stevenson missed. A long hit by the Wesley full-back sent R. Harrington away to score. From the bully off Greytown attacked, and the Wesley goalie made a good save. Wesley were awarded a penalty corner which Greytown cleared and their forwards attacked with a good run down the field but failed with the shot. Towards the end of the game the Wesley forwards broke through and R. Harrington finished the movement with a good goal. The game ended: Wesley 3, Grey town 1. Messrs Tooby and Mo'rice were the umpires.
