FERTILISER CONTROL

NEW EMERGENCY REGULATIONS RATIONING SCHEME. OBLIGATION ON FARMERS TO COMPLETE FORMS. Phosphatic fertilisers are now being rationed in accordance with emer-J gency regulations recently gazetted. As a basis for the scheme the last two ( years’ use of phosphatic fertiliser is, being taken to enable the necessary. cut to be made in orders so that the amount of fertiliser distributed lor topdressing will not exceed the 200.000 tons available. The scheme, it is stated, has been adopted to ensure the most equitable distribution possible. Under the Government scheme lor allocating phpsphatic fertilisers which came into operation on June 12, the Wairarapa Grain. Seed and Produce Merchants’ Association states, farmers mus! fill in the required form, which will be supplied by merchants from whom they have purchased fertiliser from June 1. 1939, to May 31, 1941, and return the forms to the merchants on or before June 25. In cases where a farmer has purchased fertiliser from several firms it will be necessary for him to fill in a form for each firm, in order to be assured of the maximum quantity being made available to him. Where a farmer has not purchased any fertiliser during the last two years he may fill in a form and make written application to the local allocation committee.

■ The Wairarapa Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants’ Association stress the point of how vitally important it is to each individual farmer to complete an application form or forms and return same to his merchant or merchants on or before the required date, June 25. Failure to do this may prejudice the farmer's chances of securing supplies for the coming season. To assist merchants in die short space of time allotted them, it would be very helpful if farmers desirous of making application would complete their forms immediately. Attention is drawn to the fact that certain quantities are now rationed per acre for various crops. These quantities are indicated on the forms supplied.
