FOOD POSITION

STILL GOOD IN BRITAIN AFTER 21 MONTHS OF WAR. ADJUSTMENT OF FAT RATION. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. June 13. Changes in the ration of certain foodstuffs are announced today. From June 30, the cheese ration is to be increased from one ounce to two ounces a head weekly, and the butter ration is to be reduced from four to two ounces. The total weekly fat ration, however, remains unchanged. Britain’s food position is as good after 21 months of war as after nine. Lord Woolton made this statement in a broadcast outlining the situation. ‘‘Hitler’s heaviest blows,” he said, “are aimed at our lifeline —our food line. He will fail because we have taken, a long view. We have bought essential foodstuffs all over the world." Lord Woolton added that the national health was as good as ever.
