“ACT OF MURDER”

* SINKING OF THE ROBIN MOOR INDIGNATION IN UNITED STATES. VIGOROUS PROTEST TO GERMANY (Bv Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, June 12. The United States has protested vigorously to Germany against the sinking of the Robin Moor. The vessel was sunk by a German submarine after the submarine’s commander had given the passengers and crew lime to abandon her and had promised to radio for help, which did not come.

The sinking has caused immense indignation throughout the United States. The “New York Times" says that the United States should give its ships the protection of its navy. The New York “Herald-Tribune” says it was a flagrant act of murder and an example of the acts of savagery that have spread across a continent-and are now spreading across the ocean. LITTLE HOPE , ENTERTAINED FOR MISSING. DEMANDS FOR NAVAL ACTION. WASHINGTON, June 12. The State Department said there seemed little hope for the 35 persons missing from the Robin Moor. All the 11 survivors are in good health, in spite of 19 days in a lifeboat. Mr May, chairman of the House Military Affairs Committee, commenting on the sinking of the Robin Moor, said: “We ought to convoy with battle fleets and let the shooting start.” Senator Connally characterised the sinking as an unjustified and unwarranted attack. He added: “Our Government will take appropriate measures to prevent a recurrence." According to a Berlin message it is officially stated that, the Robin Moor case has not been cleared up. but it is certain that if a German warship were involved the commander observed international law.
