SCHOOL ASSOCIATION MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.)' At the monthly meeting of the Home and School Association there were present Mesdames N. M. Hurndell (president), Patterson, K. Hodder, Steffert and Mr W. Martin. Apologies for absepce were received from Mesdames Ney/on and H. Goodin. The treasurer reported that £32 12s 6d was in hand towards the asphalting of the basketball court. On the motion of Mrs Steffert, seconded by Mrs Hodder, it was decided to discontinue the fortnightly “500” evenings, unless the attendance was better at the next two tournaments. Scout Card Party. There was a large attendance at the Boy Scout card party held last evening. The prize winners were: Ladies, Mrs J. Hooper 1, Mrs Herdman 2; men, Mr A. Patterson 1, Mr G. Goodin 2. Ladies’ Golf. The following is the draw for the bogey round and C. M. Trophy to be played on the Taratahi links on Saturday by the lady members of the Carterton Golf Club:—Mrs Harrington v Miss V. Corlett, Mrs Candy v Miss Armstrong. Mrs Colson v Mrs Nix, Mrs Callender v Mrs Knowles, Miss Berrill v Miss Lindop, Mrs Maroney v Miss I. Corlett. Miss Campbell v Miss Johnson. Mrs Murray v Miss Z. Freer, Mrs Orr v Miss Peters, Mrs Johansen v Mrs Hasty, Miss Smart v Mrs Court, Miss B. Freer v Miss Lawrence, Mrs Forbes v Miss Lamb, Mrs Robinson v Miss Hamer, Mrs Martin v Miss Bredin. Mrs Candy and Miss Lawrence will be in charge of the afternoon tea arrangements. Hockey Team. The following is the Carterton junior men’s hockey team to play Wesley at Carterton at 1.30 on Saturday:—D. McKenzie, H. Abbott, J. Morgan, B. Goodin, R. Andrews, D. Williams, S. Archer, B. Gallon, L. Fitzgerald, B. Hopkins, D. Gallon. Reserve, W. Morris. Rainfall for May. Mr J. A. Roberts reports that the rainfall in May was 6.38 inches. There were ILX’.et days, the heaviest fall being 3.’1>7 j/ichcs on May 3. Racing Club Meeting. A meeting of the stewards of the Carterton Racing Club will be held tomorrow night when general business will be transacted. Personal Items. The many friends of the Rev. W. F. Stent will be pleased to learn that he has recovered from his illness. Mr and Mrs H. Hall, of The Terrace, Wellington, are visitors to Carterton, and are staying with Mr and Mi's J. McKenzie. R.S.A. Ball. At the R.S.A. ball to be held early next month a number of debutantes will be presented. This will be a novel feature as far as Carterton is concerned. Dance at Belvedere. The residents of Belvedere. Carrington and the surrounding districts are reminded of the dance which is to be held in the Belvedere schoolroom tomorrow night.
