WAR DEVELOPMENTS
DISCUSSED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES YESTERDAY’S SECRET SESSION. REFERENCES TO PUBLIC DEMAND FOR INFORMATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A secret session to enable members of the House of Representatives. to hear and discuss the latest developments in the war was held yesterday. Formal business took an unexpectedly long time, and it was about an hour after the opening of the sitting that the House began its meeting in secret. As on previous occasions any "strangers” were asked to leave the chamber and its precincts, and the usual precautions were taken to ensure secrecy. Members again asked Ministers a number of questions, and a statement was made by the Acting-Prime Minister, Mr Nash, on the New Zealand casualties in the Greek and Crete campaigns. Reference was made by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Holland, to the public demand for fuller information from the Government in regard to the war. Mr Nash replied that all possible information was made available to the public. The ActingPrime Minister had stated earlier, in reply to an urgent question, that subject to the elimination of references that would be harmful to the Dominion or useful to the enemy, he would like to see a full debate on the work of the New Zealand Forces in Greece and Crete, during the Imprest Supply Bill discussion this week.
