Interviewed on his return from Europe, which he was touring as a journalist. Mr J. C. Cudahy, former United States Ambassador to Belgium, said that the role of the Soviet Union was more important than, most people realised. The German people were apathetic and unelated over their victories, but. greatly dreaded losing the war; therefore they were very determined to win and also very united. Mr Cudahy expressed the opinion that if the war is not finished by next October it would last for 30 years.
