, e MEETING IN MASTERTON. ADDRESS ON BEAUTY CULTURE, i, >f A meeting of the Masterton Towns- ” womens Guild was held yesterday afternoon' in the Y.M.C.A. Hall. There was a large attendance. The president (Mrs E. J. Burke) welcomed members and visitors. Mrs Burke, on behalf of the Guild, expressed sympathy with those whose relatives in the military forces are missing. The two Guild representatives on t die Red Cross Committee, Mesdames ” Lyttle and Copp, gave their reports e and appealed for pyjama cords. Members were thanked for their contribution of hnen to the Society. \ J- was reported that a fair amount 1 ol money had been raised bj' voluntary contributions lor the A.N.A. Club in Wellington. Mrs W. Judd, the representative on the Patriotic Committee, gave her report and stated that the quota of liussifs and 450 mittens had been filled. An interesting talk was given by I Mrs J. Robertson who related incidents on her recent travels in the South Is- | land. ; Two much appreciated vocal items were given by Mrs Speight, the accom- ; paniments being played by Mrs Beyder. I Mrs Davis-Goff won the first prize in the packed school lunch competition. Afternoon tea was served, then the president welcomed Miss Jane Hall, of Wellington. Miss Hall, who has recently arrived from England, gave an address on “Beauty Culture," giving much sound advice concerning the care and treatment of the skin, and the correct application .of cosmetics. The harsh. New Zealand water, she said, should be softened by the use of toilet catmeal and used once daily, and a lotion used for any further cleansing. The neck and hands should also receive special treatment, as well as the face. In concluding her address Miss Hall spoke briefly on her war experiences in England. Miss Hall was accorded a hearty vote ’ of thanks and presented with a shoulder spray.
