PARCELS FOR SOLDIERS DISTRICT CAMPAIGN BEGUN. ("Times-Age” Special.) There was a good representation of residents of the Tinui, Whakataki, Homewood and Blairlogie districts at a meeting held at the home of Mr and Mrs R. S. Pilmer, "Waiteko." last night. Means were discussed of raising funds to buy parcels for men of the district serving in the forces overseas. A tentative programme of activities was drawn up. and it was decided to begin promptly by holding a gala dance in the Langdale Hall next Saturday night. June 14. Items are to be given by a Homewood Maori party, and Te Tan’s Orchestra is to be engaged. An unusual feature, it was staled. would be the supper cooked in Maori ovens. Transport (Wairarapa) Limited offered to provide a free bus from Masterton and Messrs Fly and Savage promised similar free transport from Whakataki and Tinui.
