GOLF CLUB BOGEY HANDICAP RESULTS. (“Times-Age" Special.) The best cards handed in after a bogey handicap held by the Martinborough men's club on Saturday were as follow: —S. W. Martin, 1 down; A. B. Martin, 2 down; M. J. McLeod, 3 down; W. G. Martin, 3 down. The points scored in the Campbell Sievers Memorial Cup were:—S. W. Martin, 3; A. B. Martin, 2; M. J. McLeod, 1. The points scored to date are: —A. I. Charles, 5; H. F. Harvey, 41; M. J. McLeod, 4; G. de V. W. Blathwayt, 3; S. W. Martin, 3; F. P. Duffy, 21. The best cards in a bogey handicap held by the Martinborough Ladies' Golf Club on Saturday were: —Mrs Charles, 7 down; Miss Ba'ker, 9 down; Miss Harvey, 9 down; Mrs Baker. 9 down. HOME GUARD WEEKEND PARADE. On Sunday a very instructive parade was held and the large number who attended showed a keen interest of thejr work. After Divine service at 10.30 a.m. the parade proceeded to the Claremont property where field work was indulged in. Afterwards a demonstration was given of the use of the "Molotov cocktail.” Distance judging, fire orders, etc., and field craft were indulged in. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute, Mrs Boyd presided over a fair attendance. A letter was received from Airman S. Alpe thanking the branch for gifts received by him. The competitions resulted as follows: —Shortbread: Mrs Mason. 1; Mrs McNally, 2. Best flower in my garden: Mrs Boyd. 1: Mrs McNally, 2. An exhibition, “the oldest cup and saucer in my home.” brought forth a splendid collection of ancient China ware. NATIONAL PARTY ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the members of the Martinborough branch of the National Parly was held in the Parish Hall on Friday night. Mr W. B. Martin presided, and there was a good attendance. The balance sheet showed the branch to be in a favourable financial position. The report stated that in accordance with instructions received from headquarters, political activities had been subordinated to winning the war efforts. The branch had given very substantia! assistance in goods and do--* nations to the soldiers’ club in Welling-1 ton. The following officers were unanimously re-elected: —President. Mr W. B. Martin: vice-president. Mr C. 11. G. Hewitt; secretary. Miss E. Alpe. Mr J. J. Maher, the Party's candidate for the Wairarapa seat, was also present, and in a short address, said it was the Party’s aim to assist in the war effort to the fullest extent and lo sink all party differences during the war.
