BRIEF SITTING
PARLIAMENT TO MEET TO MORROW SECRET SITTING PROPOSED. FOLLOWING ON TRIBUTES TO DECEASED MEMBERS. The session of Parliament will resume tomorrow afternoon, a little over a fortnight earlier than originally intended. When Parliament adjourned on March 27, the date of resumption was fixed for June 25 on the understanding that Parliament could again La called together sooner if any emergency or development then unforeseen made that desirable. Th.- present meeting of Parliament is unlikely to last more than a few days. When the House of Representatives resumes tomorrow formal business only will be taken, and this will be followed by tributes to legislators and former legislators who have died since Parliament was last in session. These are Captain W. J. Lyon, M.P. for Waitemata since 1935, whose death in action was announced last week; Sir James Parr, a former Minister of the Crown and a former Leader of the Legislative Council; Mr P. McSkimming, a former member of the House of Representatives; and Sir Charles Luke, a former member of the Legislative Council. An adjournment will be taken until the- evening as a mark of respect.
The present intention is that on resuming at night, the House should go into secret session to hear and discuss the latest developments in the war situation. If necessary the secret session will be continued on Wednesday.
The only other business to be dealt with is an Imprest Supply Bill. After completing the present programme of business Parliament will probably adjourn till early next month. Mr Nash has already said that he hopes to have the Budget ready for presentation about that time.
