BASIS OF POLITICAL ACTION. There is no greater barrier to clear political thinking than failure to distinguish between ideals and reality, writes Mr Thomas Magnay, M.P.. in the “News-Letter." Once ideals become institutions they cease to be ideals and new ones must be created. That action and interaction is the stuff of politics. Every political situation has mutually incompatible elements of idealism and reality, or morality and power. Politics cannot, be separated from power. Political action must be founded upon a co-ordin-ation of morality and power. It is fatal to ignore cither.
