ITALIAN ISLANDS
CLEANED UP IN RED SEA WORK OF INDIAN NAVY SLOOP. PRISONERS INCLUDE HIGH OFFICERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.5 p.m.) SIMLA. June 4. After the fall of Massawa an Indian Navy sloop was ordered to clean up the Italian-occupied Red Sea islands of Norah and Dahlak. The enemy morale at Norah was so low that 900 troops surrendered without a fight. Information suggested that a party, led by high Italian officers, which penetrated the interior of Dahlak, after escaping from the mainland, would resist to the death, but a search revealed that the party had put to sea in a dhow, heading for the Yemen mainland. A search party also commandeered a dhow and set off in pursuit of the Italians, who. when they saw mach’ine-guns aimed at them, immediately hoisted the white flag. The party included a general and a colonel.
