OVER 180,000 VOLUNTEERS. INDUSTRIAL TRAINING PLAN. * (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 12.40 p.m.) RUGBY, June 4. Since the inauguration of the Empire air scheme, 180,455 men have applied to enlist in the Royal Australian Air Force. It is announced that the Federal Cabinet has approved a spare time training plan to put members of the R.A.A.F. in skilled occupations after the war. The scheme, which is costing £50,000 a year, will assist skilled men to retain their knowledge of their former occupations and help others to secure suitable work.
