OVER NORTHERN FRANCE & CHANNEL

And Attack on Skips in Kiel Canal NIGHT RAIDS ON DUSSELDORFF AND BERLIN LIMITED ENEMY ACTIVITY OVER BRITAIN LONDON, June 3. The R.A.F. carried out a sweep over Northern France and the Channel today. A column of enemy troops and an armed trawler were attacked. All the planes returned. A pilot said that when the trawler was last seen she had sunk at least four feet lower in the water. Last night the R.A.F. bombed objectives in the centre of Berlin. One airman stated that five large fires were started and others reported a whole ring of fires as they turned for home. A further force attacked Dusseldorff and despite bad weather made accurate practice on industrial targets in the town. The docks at Ostend and St Nazaire were also attacked. Four British planes are missing. In yesterday’s daylight attack on the Kiel Canal, a ship of 3,500 tons and another of 1,200 tons were hit. There was little enemy air activity during daylight today. Bombs were dropped on the east coast but there were no casualties or damage. At one point on the north-east coast bombs were dropped and some people injured. A third enemy bomber was destroyed off 'the east coast yesterday.
