ROAD FATALITY

MAN CRUSHED BY HEAVY TRACTOR. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The driver of a motor truck at Dairy Flat, on the northern side of the harbour. was killed instantly last night when ho was crushed by' a ten-ton tractor. The victim was Ronald Frederick Grinwald Baskett. aged 30, of St. Heliers, Managing Director of Dominion Roadmakers Ltd. Mr Baskett was driving a four-ton truck, which sank in a soft surface on the edge of the main read, slowing down suddenly and causing the heavy tractor to run forward into the cab of the truck crushing the driver. The truck then left the road and ran into a ditch. A passing motorist shortly afterwards found Mr Baskett dead. An inquest was opened before the City Coroner, Mr F. K. Hunt, and was adjourned.
