Mr and Mrs V. E. Donald, of Masterton, have received cabled adw’.cc from their son. Second-Lieut. Hac’.clon , Donald, that he has returned to ’iigypt fit and well, presumably from Cvete. Advice has been received that Pte. J. Wallis, M.G. Battalion. 2nd N.Z. Echelon, is reported missing. He is the managing director of Wallis’s' Health Bakery, Masterton. Major Hubert Henderson. in command of No. 1 Training Battalion -at Burnham, has been appointed an inspector of secondary schools, e.nd is expected to be released from military appointment in a few weeks' time. About thirty friends gathered at the Blairlogie Hotel last evening to entertain Sergeants T. C. H, Miller, Lambert Roach and Gunner H. M. A. Major. Mi E. G. Norman presided and Mr N. G. F. Whiteman proposed the toast of the guests. Major-General Sir Andrew Russell. K. K.C.M.G., Inspector-General of the New Zealand Military Forces, is paying an official visit to the Auckland district. Ho went to Whangarei yesterday, and later will visit districts further north. ( About fifty friends gathered at the residence of Mr and Mrs R. Foster.. High Street.
