No Bankruptcies. No bankruptcies were recorded in the district last month. All Purposes Patriotic Appeal. The total sum received to date for the £1,000,000 all purposes patriotic appeal is now £832.100, according to the honorary Dominion organiser of the appeal, Mr J. Abel, in a statement issued last evening. Auckland, Feilding, Wanganui, Canterbury, Southland, Westland and Otago were still conducting their appeals, and Wairarapa was nearly 50 per cent, over its quota with £29.210 in hand. The figures were: Wellington £205.000, Auckland £174.000. Canterbury £109.000. Otago £BB,OOO. Taranaki £69,000, Hawke’s Bay £54.200, Nelson £37,300. Southland £30,500. East Coast £27,000. Marlborough £18,900. Westland £l4 200., Miscellaneous £5,200.

Frost in Masterton. Masterton experienced another frost this morning—one of .11.6 degrees —being the fourth in succession. Sheep Dog Trials. The Masterton Collie Club has decided to hold its dog trials on June 18, 19 and 20. The meeting had been fixed for early in May, but owing to the severe floods which were experienced a day or so before (he date of the meeting, the trials had to be postponed. Drunken Motorist Fined. Described as an aircraftsman, Francis Alexander Cawley, aged 21, appeared in the Magistrate's Court, Palmerston North, before Mr Lawry, S.M., charged with having been in charge of a motor car while in a state of intoxication. Accused. who entered a plea of guilty, was fined £lO and prohibited from obtaining a driver's licence for one year. SeniorSergeant J. Mclntyre explained that Cawley’s car was involved in a collision with a woman cyclist.
