The death occurred in the Wellington hospital on Saturday of Mr Thomas Davis, formerly of Featherston, at the age of 37 years. Private A. Dewar, who has been transferred from the Napier Defence Office to Masterton. has taken up duty here. Private Dewar was formerly a resident of Masterton. Mr H. E. Blyde has been elected president of the North Taranaki executive of the Farmers' Union. This will be Mr Blyde's 13th year as president. Mr and Mrs L. O. Sayer. Masonic Street. Master ton, have received cable advice that their son, Gunner Leonard Charles' Sayer, who was previously reported missirig, is now reported not missing. Mr C. A. Wilson, who has been a member of the Otago Acclimatisation Society for 27 years, has achieved the remarkable record of having attended more than 1000 meetings. He has given his services to the society as a council member. committee chairman, and president. During the weekend members of the Riverside Golf Club presented Pte. H. Knox with a money-belt. The president Mr W. J. Palamontain, referred to Pte. Knox's sterling qualities and wished him a bon voyage and a safe return. The recipient was accorded musical honours. The Rev. E. O. Blamires, Wellington. Dominion organising secretary of the New Zealand Bible-in-Schools League, 'and formerly Methodist Minister in Masterton, who is visiting Invercargill, preached sermons in St. Peter's Methodist Church yesterday morning and in First Church in the evening. He left today on his return to the north. After being president of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association for the last seven years and vice-president for two years before that. Lieut.Colonel A.. Cowles, V.D.. has retired from office, and at the annual meeting of the association on Saturday night it was announced that Colonel C. H. Weston K.C.. D. 5.0., had been elected presi dent unopposed. The result of the postal ballot for the committee of the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association was announced tit the annual meeting of the association on Saturday night. The following were elected, each obtaining the number of votes indicated: —Mr E. C. Hale. 1254; Mr M. W. W. Cummins, 1208; Lieut.-Colonel A. Cowles, 1181; Mr A. 1,. Franks. 1136; Mr J. T. Adams. 1062: Mr J. Morgan-Davies, 1052: Major P. de B. Brandon. 1040: Mr F. C. Allerby. 989; Dr. N. A. Foden. 928: Mr S. Porter, 897. The following candidates were not successful: Mr W. J. Stacey, 837; Mr L. K. Morris. 813; Mr J. Abel. 815; Mr A. L. Tressider. 807; Mr H. M. Haycock, 793.
