SALE AT FEILDING A STEADY DEMAND. FAT LAMBS SELL READILY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, May 30. Another moderate-sized yarding came forward at the Feilding stock market today, and found a steady demand in all departments. Fat sheep: Lambs were in good supply and sold readily at fairly even prices. The quality of the ewe and wether mutton was fair to good. There was a total clearance. Prime wethers made 23s Id to 24s 4d; good, 22s to 22s lOd: unfinished, 20s 7d to 21s lOd; primes! ewes, 13s to 16s lOd; prime, Us Id to 12s lOd; heavyweights, 5s Id to 9s lOd; extra prime lambs, 22s lOd to 245; prime, 20s 7d to 22s 4d; light, 15s Id to 19s lOd. Store sheep: Prices for good lambs held firm, while a few pens of adult ewes in good order were soon taken. Best white face wether lambs, made 15s 9d to 18s Id; second grade, 13s to 14s lOd; others, 7s Sd to 12s 6d; good black face lambs, 15s 6d to 16s 4d; smaller, 13s to 13s 3d; extra good ewe lambs, 26s 6d; others, 12s to 16s 9d; fourtooth ewes, 27s 2d; small two-tooths, 265; four to five-year ewes, 20s; aged, 7s to 9s 6d. Store cattle: Boner cows made up the greater part of the entry, the balance being odds and ends of farmers’ lines. Boner cows, heavy, made £4 Is; others, £2 15s to £3 12s 6d; two-year heifers. £3 12s to £4 Ils; steers, £6 2s 6d to £6 7s 6d; forward heifers, £4 14s; yearling Jersey heifers, £1 10s to £2 10s; cows with calves. £6 10s. Dairy cattle: Low values ruled for dairy stock, the quality being rather poor. Best springing heifers made £B, others, £6 5s to £7 ss; springing cows, £3 10s to £7. Fat. cattle: There was not a very good selection of beef, but the demand was well maintained. Best heifers made £6 7s 6d; lighter, £5 12s 6d to £5 17s 6d; good Hereford cows, £7 2s 6d to £7 7s" 6d; lighter, £5 12s 6d to £6 7s 6d; ex-dairy cows, £3 12s 6d to £5 7s 6d; vealcrs, £2 15s to £3 10s. . Pigs: A light entry of pigs sold well. Gopd weaners made 15s to 20s 6d, small 8s to Ils; small stores, 28s. CARTERTON SALE PIGS AND CATTLE IN DEMAND. BREEDING EWES NEGLECTED. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows: A small yarding of pigs and cattle and a good yarding of sheep came forward at our Carterton sale yesterday. Pigs and cattle sold well up to late rates. In the sheep section good hoggets sold well but breeding ewes and small hoggets were not keenly sought after. The following are some of the realisations: — Sheep: Heavy prime hoggets, to 28s; fat wethers, 23s to 24s 6d, fat ewes, 10s 6d, Us 9d, to 13s; fat hoggets, 19s 2d to 20s 6d; wether hoggets, 12s to 14s 2d; b.f. hoggets, to 12s lOd; ewe hoggets, to 16s 3d. Cattle: Springing cows, to £8; weaner Jersey heifers, £3 to £4 ss; fat cows, £4 5s to £5 Us; forward cows, £3 to £4; store cows, .£2, £2 2s 6d, to £2 15s. Pigs: Heavy porkers, to £2; light porkers, 265. 295, to 30s; store pigs, 16s 6d, 19s, to 20s; slips, 13s, to 15s; weaners. Bs, to 10s.
