AIR ATTACKS

IN MEDITERRANEAN THEATRES DESTRUCTION OF ENEMY MACHINES. MANY R.A.F. SUCCESSES. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 1.20 p.m.) RUGBY, May 30. Further widespread bombing operations in the Mediterranean theatres of war are described in R.A.F. Middle East, communique. This states: “Longrange lighters of the R.A.F., on patrol over the-Mediterranean between Crete and the North African coast, destroyed yesterday one Dornier 7 and one Junkers 88. Other enemy aircraft were so badly damaged that they are unlikely to be able to reach their base. “In Iraq, a very successful machinegun attack was carried, out on Baquba aerodrome by our aircraft, during which a number of CR42’s and other aircraft were rendered unserviceable. “Rebel motor transport south of Fall lujah was heavily bombed and numerous sorties were made in support of our troops advancing on Bagdad. None of our aircraft are missing.”
