An Italian communique reports that tiie Conte Rosso, while sailing in convoy in the Mediterranean, was hit by a torpedo. The major part of the crew was saved. The communique adds that Italian Air Force planes repeatedly attacked enemy naval forces in the Eastern Mediterranean and that a British destroyer blew up after being hit by a bomb. Many of the crew were rescued. It is officially stated in Berlin that the Luftwaffe sank two British destroyers off Crete on May 29.
