Mr and Mrs S. B. Maclennan, of Mas- ' terton, are exhibitors at the New Zea- ' land Academy of Fine Arts Exhibition ' now being held in Wellington. Advice has been received that a five-colour lithograph by S. B. Maclennan has been sold. Because of the difficulty of sending an examiner from London, Dr W. A. Orchard, who for the past 11 years has been director of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, arrived at Auckland by the Monterey to begin an examining tour for Trinity College of Music. Dr Orchard, who was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1924 for his services to music, holds a doctorate of music from Durham University. Miss Alison Morice, daughter of Mr and Mrs G. W. Morice, Masterton. who played for Canterbury College in the recent University hockey tournament in Auckland, gained a place in the University representative team which played Auckland and qualified for a ’Varsity "Blue." Miss Elaine Hanley, also of Masterton. played well for Otago University, scoring four goals out of five for her team against the Auckland University College.
