SMALL ADVANCE
MADE BY BRITISH FORCES AT TOBRUK ENEMY SUFFERS HEAVY CASUALTIES. EVACUATION OF SOLLUM BY OUR TROOPS. LONDON, .May 29. A small advance is reported by British forces at Tobruk. Our troops inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy without loss to themselves. In the Solium area British patrols are vigorously harassing the enemy forces. Solium has been abandoned by British troops owing to tho danger of being cut off. The enemy advance with tanks and artillery in the Wolluj area, and the retirement of the British, as they have done before, in face of the first enemy onslaught, is not regarded by expert opinion as a very serious matter (says a British Official Wireless message). The move- is similar to that which took place some weeks ago. and is likely to be part of the continual ebb and flow of the battle in this area.
