Fighter Command carried out an offensive sweep over the French coast yesterday, shooting down one of the . latest German fighters, a Messerschmitt 109 F, and damaging several more. Messerschmitts were seen below the British fighters, whose pilots report that the Spitfires were definitely superior to their foes. They returned to their bases without a bullet hole.
