The Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, at Auckland yesterday, received executive officers of the Auckland branch of the Navy League. Later their Excellencies visited the ii Teachers’ Training College. The Hon. J. G. Barclay, Minister olMarketing, is visiting Dunedin. He will return to Wellington on Sunday. Among New Zealand troops reported safe and well is Private Jack Morgan, who is well known in this district. Mr and Mrs R. Palmer, of Longbush. have received a cable stating that their son. Pte. Jim Palmer, is reported missing. Mr C. R. Riesop. railways business agent in Auckland, has been promoted to be special officer at railway headquarters, Wellington. ' Mrs J. M. Coradine, Coradine Street, Masterton, has received word that her grandson, Acting Sergeant James Moore (Jim) Coradine, is missing. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan. Minister of Supply and Munitions, left Wellington for Auckland by the Limited express last night. He expects to return to Wellington e'arly next week. Mr M. Stevens, who was admitted to the .Masterton Hospital as the result of a collision between a motor cycle he was riding and a car, is making good progress. Mr and Mrs J. W. Thornton Senr., Opaki Road, Masterton, have received a cable from their son. Private Lyall Thornton, stating that he is safe and well. Mr and Mrs W. F. Henderson. 36 Perry Street. Masterton, have received further advice that their son, Gunner F. Henderson, who was previously announced as missing, is now reported as not missing. Mr J. L. Hair has been reappointed the representative of the GovernorGeneral on the Wairarapa College Board of Governors, and Messrs W. R. Nicol and J. D. O’Connor have been reappointed representatives of the. Wellington Education Board on the College Board. At the annual meeting of the Wairarapa College Board of Governors, held in Masterton last night. Mr W. R. Nicol was re-appointed chairman for a further 12 months. Tribute to Mr Nicol's services and .-to his knowledge of educational matters was paid by Messrs A. O. Jones and F. M. Whyte. Administrative changes in the senior staff of the Department of Health were announced by the Minister of Healtlfc Mr Nordmeyer, last evening. Dr. R. /£. Shore is to relinquish his present portion of Director of the Hospitals Division and have the full-time office of Deputy Director-General of Health. Dr. L. C. McNickle. Inspector of Hospitals, is to succeed Dr. Shore as Director of the Hospitals Division.
