Frost in Masterton.
Masterton experienced its fourth frost this week, when 4.7 degrees were registered this morning. Praise for Younger Generation. “After spending a period in Territorial camp. I must say I have changed my views concerning the younger generation," said Mr J. H. Winter at a meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Provincial District of the Farmers’ Union. He added that he was convinced that the young men were an even better lot than in the last war. Higher Education. At a meeting of the Wairarapa College Board of Governors in Maslerton last night. Mr T. Hanley stressed the need for the provision of facilities at the College for providing children with higher education following matriculation. After a full discusiosn it was decided to obtain a report from the Education Committee and the Principal. Mr G. G. Hancox. Territorial Camps. A motion that the military authorities be asked to hold Territorial camps during the school vacations to enable a full complement of officers to attend, was carried unanimously at a meeting of the Wairarapa College Boerd of Governors last night. It was pointed out that a large number of Territorial officers were drawn from the teaching profession.
Man's Leg Broken by Ram. Knocked over by a ram in a paddock at Trentham yesterday afternoon. Mr Thomas Allen, Trentham. had his left leg broken. He was taken to hospital by the Wellington Free Ambulance. Mr Allen, who is aged 82. was involved in another accident on May 3. He and his wife, aged 79, were walking along Main Road. Lipper Hutt, at night when a taxi knocked down Mrs Allen, who received injuries from which she died in the Wellington Hospital on May 5
