Brigadier-General Hershey, DeputyDirector of Selective Service, told a national nutrition conference that Americans were in a physical condition of which nationally they should be thoroughly ashamed. Four hundred thousand of a million examined for service were rejected as unfit. He said America must be strong but would not be when half her sons were below standard.
