Daylight attacks on shipping off the French coast and on an enemy occupied aerodrome in France are reported. An enemy convoy off Brest'was attacked by a British plane, which singled out a supply ship of 5.000 tons, scoring direct hits. The ship was seen to be heavily listing. Other aircraft attacked successfully the aerodrome at Lorient. German aircraft were not very active over Britain today. A few came over and one was shot down. COLOGNE BOMBED ft MANY FIRES STARTED. DAMAGE DONE TO IMPORTANT OBJECTIVES. LONDON, May 28. R.A.F. bombers attacked industrial targets in Cologne last night. Numerous fires were started and direct hits on important objectives with heavycalibre bombs were observed. The lull in operations over Britain continued last night. Single raiders yesterday afternoon dropped a number of bombs on a town in the east of Scotland, states an Air Ministry communique. Slight damage was done and a very small number of casualties were caused. AIR MINISTRY REPORT ■ LOW-LEVEL ONSLAUGHTS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.38 a.m.) RUGBY. May 28. Giving an account of R.A.F. raids on Cologne and Boulogne, an Air Ministry communique states: "Yesterday afternoon a formation of Bomber Command aircraft made a successful raid on German aerodromes at Lannion, in Brittany. Our bombers, attacking from a low level with bombs and machineguns. destroyed seven fighters on the ground and damaged others. A hangar was demolished and another damaged. Lorries standing on runways were hit. The aerodrome was hidden in smoke when the bombers left."

In daylight attacks on enemy shipping yesterday, two coastal vessels were hit and probably sunk, one off the Dutch coast by aircraft of .the Bomber Command, and the other in the Bay of Biscay.
