Her Excellency Lady Newall has accepted the position of patroness of the Mothers’ Union in New Zealand. Mr and Mrs S. G. Lamb, who have been visiting Waikaremoana and Rotorua, have returned to Masterton. Mrs C. C. Williams and family, Masterton, have returned from a visit to Auckland and Raglan. Mrs H. Hamilton, Dunedin, is the guest of Mrs W. F. McLaren, Te Rangitumau. Mr and Mrs G. G. Tolhurst and Miss M. Mace, Cole Street, Masterton, are visiting Rotorua. The Misses Hogg, Church Street, Masterton, have returned from a visit to Patea. Mrs J. Perry, who has been staying with her mother, Mrs W. G. Lamb, Herbert Street, Masterton, has returned to Alfredton. Mr and Mrs R. I. MacDonald, of Kuripuni Street, Masterton, have returned from a holiday spent at Lower Hutt. Flying Officer R. W. B. Watson and Mrs R. Watson (Wellington), who were married in Masterton at Easter, have taken a flat in Mrs J. Mowbray Tripp’s house in Park Terrace, Christchurch. Flying Officer Watson’s mother, Mrs W. Watson, is visiting Christchurch, and is staying at Warwick House. Mr and Mrs Arthur Hamilton Knowles, Palmerston North celebrated their golden wedding on Monday, their marriage having taken place in Foxton on May 26. 1891. Mrs Knowles was formerly Miss Edith Easton, eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs A. S. Easton, Foxton. She lived in Foxton till the time of her marriage to Mr Knowles, who was then manager of the Bank of Australasia in Foxton. Later they removed to Waipawa and shortly afterward to Featherston, where they lived till Mr Knowles retired in 1919. They later settled in Palmerston North, where they have remained ever since.
