MR HERBEiRT BAILLIE. A NOTABLE LIBRARIAN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Obituary: Mr Herbert Baillie, from 1904 to 1927 Chief Librarian of the Wellington Municipal Library and for many years hon. secretary and treasurer of the New Zealand Libraries. Association. Mr Baillie was an authority on the early history of Wellington, which he had clone much to record, as well as on the history of New Zealand as a whole. Owing to his voluntary efforts, the Transactions of the New Zealand Institute contain much valuable information that otherwise would been lost. A veteran Freemason. Mr Baillie was one of the 33 founders of the Grand I,edge of New Zealand whej were honoured at the Jubilee gathering in Christchurch in April last year. He was more than a formal custodian of books —one of Wellington’s best known and best beloved citizens.
