. SOME USEFUL HINTS. A tight cap on a bottle can be easily removed if gripped with a piece of coarse sandpaper. If greaseproof paper is folded and put into the bottom of the bread tin the bread will keep surprisingly fresh. A metal kettle can be polished in half the time if it is filled with hot water while being cleaned. Burnt aluminium saucepans may be cleaned by boiling a weak solution of vinegar and water in them. When baking a large fruit cake, stand your cake tin in a flat sandwich tin full of salt; it will prevent, the cake from burning on the bottom. The "clip-on” paper-clips used in offices are excellent for fastening pleats into place when ironing a pleated skirt or dress. When polishing a floor give the polish'a little time to soak in.
