MASTERTON PARK CLUB SEASON’S ACTIVITIES. ADDITION TO PAVILION PROPOSED. The twenty-ninth annual report of the Masterton Park Bowling Club records a successful season. The club championships provided keen contests, the following being the winners:-— Spackman Cup (Colts), G. Brown; Thompson Cup, R. Wallace; Champion Singles. H. Carr; Champion Pairs. J. Shearer, H. Carr (s); Champion Fours. P. Trevorrow. E. Brown, H. Smith. R. Brownie (s). The Wall Cup and Bell Shield provided some good games. The club at present holds the Bell Shield. The club was well represented in the Wairarapa Centre's annual matches with Manawatu. At the first triangular match of the season for the Kean Trophy between Featherston. Lyall Bay and the Park clubs held on the Park greens, Lyall Bay was victorious over the holders (Featherston) by a narrow margin, while on the return game played at Lyall Bay, Park managed to secure this coveted trophy. A most successful fours tournament in aid of the funds of the Navy-Nursing Queen was held, and a substantial sum was realised. The Park was well represented in the Wairarapa Centre Fours Tournament. which was held on Masterton greens in aid of the Patriotic Fund. This also was a great success, and the centre was able to hand over a good donation to this deserving object. Topdressing of the greens has now been finished and there is every indication that they will equal if not surpass in excellence the splendid surface we had during the past season. The club continues in a healthy financial condition. Several members again did souk 1 valuable work on and about the greens and thanks are due to them for their services. The report, which is signed by the president, Mr R. Wallace, continues: "I would take this opportunity of thanking our hon. secretary. Mr S. Vincent: the hon. treasurer, Mr Gibson: the bowl examiner. Mr E. Burke: the selector, Mr A. Kilgour: and members of the committee for their wholehearted support and co-operation. I regret that, through ill-health Mr Gibson has been obliged to resign his. office as treasurer. In the meantime. Mr A. Osborn is acting in his stead. Thanks are also due to the Borough Council, the Park custodian and his staff for assistance so freely given, and to the Press for publicity. Your committee has applied to the Borough Council for an addition to the pavilion, and thanks are due to Mr Jenkins for drawing up the plans and specifications. Subject to your approval a contribution toward the cost has been offered to the council who advise that the matter has been referred to the incoming committee to be appointed after the municipal elections. I also wish to thank you one and , all for your support, during my fourth term of office, and for the kindness and consideration you have shown me at all I imes." Members are reminded that the twenty-ninth annual meeting will be held at the Y.M.C.A. this evening at 7.30 when it is hoped that there will be a full attendance. It is particularly requested that members should note that the meeting will commence promptly at the advertised time.
