FOREIGN SHIPS
IN UNITED STATES AND LATIN AMERICA. BRITISH NEGOTIATIONS FOR PURCHASE. (By Telegraph—(Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON. May 33. It is authoritatively stated that Britain is negotiating with Latin American nations for the purchase of 100 refugee foreign merchantmen in Latin American ports, and that similar negotiations have opened between the British Purchasing Mission and the United Stales Maritime Commission, by which Britain hopes to obtain some merchant tonnage when the United States formal!}- requisitions 84 foreign ships at present under surveillance.
