COURSING

SATURDAY'S MEETING AT AKURA. Record nominations have been received for the St. Leger Stake at Akura on Saturday afternoon. A full list of 16 puppies of either sex will contest the classic. This is the largest nomination received by any club controlling the event in New Zealand for some considerable time. The Hawke's Bay district has the largest entry, though a strong Wairarapa team will no doubt make a determined effort to win the stake. A handsome ribbon provided by the North Island Greyhound Association will be presented on lhe ground to the successful winning owner. The draw’for both stakes will take place tonight at 8.30 at the secretary’s rooms. Tile first course is timed to start at 1.45 p.m. Cars may be taken into the grounds free.
