IMPROVEMENT IN VALUES. SMALLER ENTRY FORWARD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 21. Entries in most sections of the Addington stock market today were smaller and there was a slight improvement in values in some cases. The store sheep were mostly aged ewes. Two-tooth halfbreds made up to 22s 6d, and older ewes to 13s Cd. Forward lambs sold at up to 17s. Fat sheep: About 3500 head were forward and were insufficient for the requirements. There was a general firming of values by about Is The quality of the offering was good. A few old ewes were included. Test wethers made from 29s to 325; good, 26s to 28s 6d; and medium and light down to 18s: best ewes sold at from 17s to 20s; extra to 235; medium, to 16s; and light, to 13s. Fat cattle: The 549 penned were too many for the market. Southern and West Coast cattle were included. The market was erratic, but was slightly better for prime medium-weights. Best steers made from £l4 to £l5 10s, with a few tops going to £lB. Good me-dium-weights sold at from £ll to £l3 10s. Best beef made from 35s to 37s 6d a 1001 b., with the tops a shade more; medium to good beef made 32s to 34s 6d, and rough down to 255. Passings were mainly of wasty heavyweights. Fat pigs: Prices for a small entry of porkers improved by 3s to 4s a head. Values ranged from £1 9s 6d to £3 Is 6d, an average price a pound of from 63d to 74d. Baconers brought from £3 2s 6d to £5 9s 6d, an average price a pound of from 6?d to 7Jd.
