AIR INVADERS
NOT ALL MOPPED UP MORE LANDINGS EXPECTED. QUESTION OF FALSE UNIFORMS. LONDON, May 21. It is pointed out in London that the statement that the situation is in hand does not mean that every parachutist and air-borne soldier has been mopped up. and parachutists will undoubtedly continue to be dropped. It is believed that some of the troop-carrying planes have been shot down in the air. There is no information to show that any tanks have been dropped. The landings have been made mostly on the western end of the island, but some troops have landed in Heraclion. the island’s central district. It is also
reported that the Germans attempted to make landings from boats. The enemy have been disguised in New Zealand battledress, and it is believed some of the Germans have been captured alive. It is not thought that the Imperial officers will shoot the prisoners so disguised though they might be entitled to do so under international law and it is understood that they will be tried by the proper court.
