The Hon. W. Nash,. Acting-Prime Minister, left Wellington for Auckland by the Limited express last night.

Mrs A. Graham, of Mastertoil, has received a cablegram from her son. Victor, who was with .the New-Zea-land forces in Greece, to the effect that lie is safe and well. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan. Minister of Munitions and Supply, left Wellington for Auckland by the Limited express last night. He expects to return to Wellington early next week. ■ Cabled advice has been received by Mrs Wyeth from her husband. Private A. S. (Clair) Wyeth, who is with the New Zealand forces in the Middle East, stating that he had returned from Greece safe and well. Included in the latest N.Z.E.F. casualty list is the name of Second Lieutenant John Graham Heasley, of Timaru, who is reported wounded. Lieutenant Heasley was stationed at the Masterton branch of the Bank of New South Wales for some time.

Teaching appointments to schools in its district which have been approved by the Wellington Education Board include the following:— Miss K. Creagh, head teacher. Clareville, from Canterbury. Miss F. Collier, infant mistress. Featherston, from Martinborough. Mr J. A. Kennedy, assistant. Masterton Central (war appointment).

At a meeting of the St John Ambulance Division held last night, a presentation was made to Mr C. Walker, who is leaving the district. The Superintendent, Mr J. C. Cooper, in making the presentation, spoke highly of Mr Walker’s good qualities and offered the association’s best wishes for his good health and prosperity in the future. Word has been received by Mr E. A. Heyder, of Masterton. of the death in Christchurch this morning of his father. Mr A. E. V. Heyder. at the age of 79 years. The late Mr Heyder was a well-known resident of Christchurch. For many years he was chief traffic inspector for the Christchurch Tramway Board and later took up farming at Banks Peninsula and Geraldine. He was only two years old when he landed in New Zealand. Mr and Mrs Heyder left Masterton for Christchurch this afternoon.
