COURSING
ST. LEGER STAKES MEETING
Next Saturday afternoon the Wairarapa Coursing Club will have control of the St. Leger Stakes, the North Island classic for all puppies of either sex. Nominations close tomorrow night, when it is expected that a good list will have accepted for this event. The open stake has a full nomination and a splendid afternoon's coursing is assured. For the classic event, the favourite will no doubt bo R. Gunn's Wind-up, winner of the puppy stake last month. Although owned and trained in Wellington, this fast puppy is a locallybred one, formerly owned by Mrs W. Williams. On his breeding it is no surprise that he is a most promising young dog. Wind-up is by Great Worry ex Orui Girl. Several litter brothers will contest the same stake and some may prove even superior to the favourite.
