Eight enemy planes were destroyed over Britain or near the coast during the past 24 hours —two night raiders, a bomber shot down into the sea and five fighters. Four British fighters are missing, but the pilots of three are safe. There was some enemy air activity over Britain today, mainly on the south and south-east coast. Few enemy planes penetrated inland. Early this morning bombs were dropped at two places on the south-west coast. Some damage was done. The number of casualties was small, but some were fatal.
