OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS

LADIES’ HOCKEY (To the Editor.) Sir. —In his notes on the GreytownExcelsior ladies’ hockey match last Saturday. your Greytown correspondent remarked that Excelsior had only been beaten once in the last three years. This statement is wrong in fact. Excelsior. first won the senior championship in 1937. and in that year, and also in 1938. 1939 and 1910. they went right through without losing a single match, either in competition games, six-a-side, oi' in home-and-home matches against Wellington and Wanganui clubs. In putting up this fine record they played over 60 matches without a loss. If your Greytown correspondent considers his statement to be correct. I would very much like to be supplied with the name of the winning team and the date of the alleged lost game played by Excelsior during the last three years.—l am. etc.. ■EXCELSIOR." Masterton. May 20.
