NOTABLE VISITOR
MR W. HOLMES SPEAKING IN MASTERTON OPERA HOUSE TOMORROW AFTERNOON. BRITISH TRADES CONGRESS DELEGATE. Tomorrow (Sunday afternoon), in the Opera House, the people of Masterton will have an opportunity of welcoming Mr William Holmes, who comes to New Zealand as the ambassador of the British people to tell us in this part of the world how the people of war-torn Britain are carrying on their work of winning the war. Mr Holmes is a typical representative of the workers of Britain. Last year he was president of the British Trade Union Congress, which represents five million workers. He comes fully accredited by this great organisation, and carries the good wishes of Mr Churchill and the British Government. Masterton is fortunate in having this opportunity of hearing Mr Holmes in person, as his stay in this country is very brief and many larger centres have had to be omitted from his itinerary. His Worship the Mayor. Mr T. Jordan, will preside over the gathering.
