STRENGTH LAST YEAR ! — IN FRANCE AND NORWAY. AND NUMBERS EVACUATED SAFELY. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 12.7 p.m.) RUGBY. May 15. The total number of British and Imperial troops sent to France in June. 1940. was 437.000 and the number sent to Norway was 23,800. The Financial Secretary to the War Office stated in the House of Commons that the number which returned from France, including wounded brought away, was 384.000, and from Norway 22,000. The number left in Franco as prisoners of war was 40.000 and in Norway 950.
