ADDINGTON SALE MODERATE RECOVERY IN PRICES. FAT LAMBS DEARER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 14. At the Addington market, as a result of smaller entries in the fat stock sections. there was a moderate recovery in prices, which have been, showing an casing tendency for some sales. Fat lambs and export ewes, both of which have had a fractional advance in the Export schedule, were dearer and sold well. Prime fat wethers and ewes were dearer and fat cattle improved by up to 20s a head. Fat lambs: The entry was of much improved quality and the best sold ttz S.j-d a lb. Store sheep: There was a small entry and an improved sale for forward lambs and wethers, and slightly firmer for breeding ewes, which were mostly full and failing-mouthed. Soundmouthed crossbreds made to 18s 6d. Fat sheep: There were 4000 fat sheep, light station wethers from Marlborough and the south being included. The latter sold draggingly. but prime wethers and ewes were better by 2s to 2s 6d a head. Good wethers sold from 26s to 295, tops to 335; light station wethers, 18s to 20s; exceptionally prime ewes, from 25s to 30s; prime, 20s to 235; prime medium-weight, 15s to 18s; ordinary, 12s to 14s; and plain, to Ils.
Fat cattle: The best advanced by 20s a head, and others 10s to 15s. Primest heavy steers made from £l5 to £l9 17s Gd; medium weights, £l2 10s to £.14 10s; light, to £10; best heifers. £lO to £l2 12s 6d; medium, £7 to £8 10s; best cows. £9 to £l2; medium to good, £6 to £B. Best beef made from 36s to 38s a 1001 b.; medium to good, 33s to 355; rough, down to 265. Fat pigs: A heavy entry of porkers met with a slacker sale, but baconers were firmer. Porkers made from 27s Gd.to 59s 6d, the average price a pound being 6.1 cl to 7d. Baconers realised 59s Gd to £6. the average a pound being 6td to 7]d. PAHIATUA SALE IMPROVEMENT IN PRICES. The Associated Auctioneers report on the weekly sale at Pahiatua as follows: —A moderate yarding of sheep were submitted to a full attendance of buyers, prices for all classes of sheep showed a decided improvement. Ewes running with S.D. rams were in keen demand. Quotations:—Ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, 19s Gd, 18s 3d to 16s 6d; r.w. Romney rams, 17s 6d, 17s to 16s; w.f.w. lambs, 15s, 14s lOd. 14s to 13s 7d; ewe lambs, 21s, 18s to 16s; b.f. lambs, 17s 6d, 15s 3d to 14s; 4-th. wethers, 22s 6d to 225; fat ewes, 15s 6d to 14s. MASTERTON SALE STORE SHEEP VALUES IMPROVE. PRICES FOR FAT EWES DECLINE. The Associated Auctioneers’ Association held their weekly sale at Masterton yesterday. A good yarding of sheep came forward before a large attendance of buyers. In the store section competition was keen, and an improvement in values resulted. In the fat sheep section, however, there was a heavy yarding of fat ewes, most of which lacked weight and quality, with a result the values declined to some extent. The following are the prices realised: — Fats: Fat wethers, 21s to 22s Gd; fat ewes. 8s to Ils; fat S.D. ewes, 15s. Stores: 2-th. wethers. 18s 8d to 22s 7d; 2-th. b.f. wethers, 22s Gd; b.f. lambs. 14s 8d to 18s Id; w.w. lambs, Ils to 17s; shorn w. lambs, 12s to 13s 7d; ewe lambs, 14s 9d to 18s 3d; small lambs. 7s to 9s; good 2-th. and 4-th. ewes, r.w. S.D. ram, 22s to 22s 3d; 6-th. and 4-yr. ewes. r.w. S.D. ram, 20s 4d; store ewes, 4s 9d to 7s 3d.
