STEADY DEMAND REPORTED AT FEILDING SALE LATE RATES MAINTAINED. ALMOST TOTAL CLEARANCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, May 9. Though there was nothing outstanding in the way of values in any part of the Feilding sale today, there was a steady demand throughout and practically everything was sold under the hammer. Fat sheep: A much smaller entry than last week was forward and held firm at late rates, with the exception of ewes, .which did not measure up to the quality of the requirements. Extra prime wethers made 23s 4d to 24s Id; prime, 21s 7d to 22s lOd; unfinished, 18s to 20s 7d; extra prime ewes, 11s 4d to 12s lOd; prime, 10s to Ils 3d; others, 8s 6d to 9s lOd; prime lambs, 20s 4d to 22s lOd; light, 17s 7d to 20s Id. Store sheep: The demand was patchy, with the best-quality lambs making a good sale. Aged ewes were slow of sale, but two-tooths made full market rates. Best ewe lambs made 25s 9d to 27s 9a; others, 18s Id to 20s Id; good black face lambs, 13s to 14s; second grade, 10s to 12s; small 7s to 9s; best wether lambs, 13s 3d to 16s; fair sorts, Ils 9d to 12s 8d; others, 6s 7d tc Ils 3d; two-tooth ewes, 28s to 28s 3d; five-year ewes, 8s Id to 12s 6d; cull ewes, 5s 2d. Store cattle: Very few grown cattle were yarded. Two-year A.A. steers, made £7 15s to £7 16s; smaller, £6 Bs‘ three-year steers, £8; 20-month A.A steers, good, £5 7s to £5 14s; others, £3 7s to £4 10s: 20-month A.A. heifers, £4 to £4 7s 6d; works cows, heavy. £3 12s 6d to £4 7s 6d; others, £2 17s to £3 ss; yearling Jersey heifers, £2 14s to £3 14s. Dairy cattle: A few head of springing heifers and cows made good values. Springing heifers made £8 15s tc £9 17s 6d; springing cows, £lO ss; heifers, calved, £6 to £8 17s 6d. Fat cattle: Beef was in good demanc and a keen sale took place for the substantial yardings, A.A. heifers made £8 12s 6d to £9 7s 6d; second grade £7 17s 6d; medium prime A.A. steers £9 12s Gd to £ll 2s 6d; lighter,'£7 2s 6d to £8 2s 6d; light prime cows, £5 7s 6d to £6 7s 6d: unfinished £3 17s 6d tc £4 17s Gd; vealers, heavy, £5 5s to £( 10s; lighter, £3 15s to £5. Pigs: No change was shown in price: for pigs. Small weaners made 4s tc 9s 6d; slips, 12s 6d to 17s 6d; smal stores, 21s; light porkers, 26s to 31s. CARTERTON SALE Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co. Ltd., report:—A good yarding of cattle and sheep and a big yarding of pig: came forward at the Carterton salt yesterday. Sheep and cattle sold we] up to late rates but pigs were slight ly easier. The following are some o the realisations: — Sheep: Fat lambs, 19s 6d, 20s to 24: 4d; fat wethers, to 20s; heavy fat ewes to 12s; light fat ewes, 8s to 9s; fat anc forward wethers, to 19s; b.f. lambs, 12: Gd, 13s lOd to 14s Gd; small b.f. lambs to 11s; small ewe lambs, to 12s Gd.
