WOMEN’S DIVISION
MASTERTON BRANCH MEETING. FREE LIBRARY SYSTEM FAVOURED. The monthly meeting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union, Masterton branch, was held in the Rest Room, King Street, on Wednesday. Mrs C. C. Jackson presided over a good attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs John Gray and Mrs Lachlin. It vzas decided that a circular letter be sent to all members, stating the aims of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union and its financial obligations; also that shop days in future would be held on the first Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
Advice was received that Miss Van Staveren would be in Masterton on May 12 to speak on A.R.P. work. A resolution was passed recommending that the Women’s Division members in forthcoming municipal election to register their votes for candidates who were progressive enough to be in favour of the free library system.
