Mr R. P. Fraser. Acting-Director of Internal Marketing, has been appointed a member of the Canteen Board. He replaces Mr F. R. Picot, New Zealand’s representative on the Eastern Group Supply Council, New Delhi.
The death occurred at Hamilton on May 6 of Clarence William Armstrong at the age of 53 years. Mr Armstrong was the elder son of the late Mr and Mrs Walter Armstrong, Greytown. He is survived by his wife, Mrs Ethelwyn Armstrong, Domain Drive, Hamilton, a son and a daughter. The death occurred on Wednesday in Wellington of Mr James Stephen Keith, a well-known business man of that city. Born in Aberdeen in 1856, he'Came to New Zealand in 1881 and arrived in Wellington in 1899. For many years he was with the firm of Messrs Mills & Co. He was a prominent bowler.
The following have been instructed to report to the Royal New Zealand Air Force Station, Levin, for training as airmen pilots: Messrs N. E. Cundy (Masterton), A. O. Hathaway (Martinborough), A. A. Matheson (Carterton),P. S. Rishworth (Masterton) and J. R. Wenden (Greytown). As an air gunner: Mr M. E. Pinfold (Pahiatua). Mr Harold Reeves, the well-known boxer, who left New Zealand with the First Echelon, has been killed in action. Mr Reeves was stationed in Feilding before the war, and played full-back for the Feilding Old Boys' Rugby Football Club's senior team, and also helped to coach players. Mr Reeves’s parents live at Konini, near Pahiatua, and while he resided in that district, Mr Reeves gave great service to both boxing and Rugby.
