OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS

FREE KINDERGARTENS (To the Editor) Sir, —Without wishing to throw cold water on the kindergarten scheme, I would like lo ask the following questions: — (1) Is Masterton not well supplied with educational facilities'? (2) If a free kindergarten is necessary for Masterton, should not the location be more central? (3) Where is the money coming from for its upkeep? (4) Is the present time opportune for raising the necessary funds? (5) Isn’t the home the proper place for training the young? It appears to me that we are straying from the simple things of life, and over-estimating the value of education. resulting in an unbalanced standard. I for one would like some enlightening on this point.—Yours, etc., ENQUIRER. Masterton, May 6.
